- Adjust the tension of the cords so that the folds when lifting the curtains turn out parallel.
- Wrap the ends of the cord around the fasteners.
Roman Curtain Tips
To get a beautiful curtain, you need to consider some of the features of its manufacture:
- so that the finished product does not warp, it is necessary to cut the fabric, placing the height of the curtain under the ruler along the main thread;
- so that the side seams of the curtains do not turn out to be tightened, you need to adjust the thread tension in the sewing machine, and lay the stitch, slightly pulling the fabric;
- so that the transverse seams are even, the finishing border before sewing must be ironed and secured with pins.
Ways of fastening Roman curtains
The Roman curtain can be mounted on the outside of the window or inside the window opening.
The mounting option on the outside of the window allows you to increase the width of the Roman curtains, covering the slopes. Casement windows open conveniently over the entire height, including in the ventilation mode.
In the second case, the fabric is adjacent to the double-glazed window. This option is convenient if there is a wide window sill that can be used practically: place flower pots, or equip it with an additional relaxation area with soft pillows.
The Roman curtain located inside the window opening can be supplemented with other curtains.
For fastening, both in the first and in the second case, you can use the curtain rod for the Roman curtains.
Usually finished curtains are sold complete with a curtain rod. For a home-made Romanesque curtain, you can make a curtain rod yourself, or choose the right one from those presented in the store.
The curtain located on top of the window opening can be hung on an ordinary cornice by sewing decorative loops to the upper side of the product.
Roman Curtain Care
If the curtain is not very dirty, then it will be enough to vacuum it. It is better to do this once every 2-3 months, spreading the curtain along the length.
Before washing, it is necessary to free the fabric from all structural parts: ringlets, rods, weighting agents. The process is not complicated, especially if the curtain was attached to a makeshift cornice with adhesive tape.
After washing, the curtain must be ironed and reassembled.
If the curtain weighs on a window that faces the sunny side, it is better to attach a lining to it, this will save it from fading.
The modern interior of many houses has been significantly transformed using Roman curtains that combine elegance, simplicity and practicality.
