The return to fashion for art deco began in the nineties of the last century, but the designers brought some changes to the concept of style itself - luxurious antiques and modern expensive equipment began to work for one purpose - creating a rich environment that emphasizes the welfare of the owners.

Modern design options can be called rather than life-supporting, but life-decorating. The style owes its popularity to its eclecticism, the variety of proposed options and methods for their implementation.

Art Deco style in the interior

The most striking signs of style are:

• the use of exotic materials, such as snake or crocodile skin, ivory,
• the presence in the interior of products made of precious metals, expensive species of natural wood, textiles and ceramic products
• use of luxurious accessories and original ornaments

Summarizing, we can say that art deco is a composition composed of objects of the most diverse, but ideally combining with each other within the same interior. The style has a special lightness, unobtrusiveness and freedom from unnecessary details.

The art deco clearly shows the prints of various cultures, this partially explains the presence in the interior of materials of simple and exotic, images of very real objects and fantastic animals, amazingly beautiful ornaments. A close study of the principles of creating an interior is surprising how luxury, exoticism and primitivism can be combined so organically. Classical motifs and asymmetry unusual for the classics are clearly visible in art deco.

Accents

Creating an interior in art deco does not always require major repairs, the main thing is to make the right accents when filling the room with objects that clearly show belonging to different times and cultures, it can be paintings and mirrors in frames, fans or beautiful handmade forging.

It is also advisable to adhere to the recommendations on the color scheme:
  the interior may contain several rich shades and deep dark tones,
  the classic version is a combination of white with black or brown, black with red or green. Each room in the house should have its own color scheme.

It is possible to concentrate the attention of people entering the room on objects made of valuable materials, such as silver or gold, chrome and nickel. Original lighting devices will help to emphasize their natural attractiveness: chandeliers, floor lamps, table lamps and sconces with nickel or bronze details, with colored glasses. Art Deco chandeliers should be real art decorations. Semi-open windows with translucent curtains should also contribute to good lighting of the interior.

Zoning

Fashion trends imply the creation of horizontal decor options as well as the use of vertical zoning of space using borders. This helps to make the rooms more functional, especially for large rooms reserved for the dining room - you can select areas for work, relaxation, and possibly even sports. Similarly, you can divide the bedroom into a recreation area and study, of course, if its area is large enough.

Since there is a clear tendency towards cubism in the art deco style, it is quite acceptable to divide a long room into two cubic zones, you can designate them using multi-level suspended ceilings. The interior of the zones may not be repeated, but common, uniting fragments must be present in it.

Art Deco Decorating

As we have already mentioned, the style is characterized by laconicism and clear geometric patterns used to create ornaments. To please the canons, designers recommend using wallpaper in the Art Deco style for wall decoration - very light shades, generally without a picture, or with prints that have very clear geometric shapes and vertical lines. The modern design school allows the use of wallpaper for painting or glass.

Most often resort to painting walls in plain pastel shades. Use bright shades is permissible only when creating a screen border. The figures applied to it should also have a geometric shape, ornaments that included a semicircle - the Egyptian symbol of the rising sun, were very popular in the last century.

It should be remembered that the walls should not take on a lot of attention, they should act as a background for the luxurious attributes of the interior and emphasize the elegance of furniture. It is usually of dark tones, bright shades are acceptable only in a variety of ornaments.

As for materials, leather and velor, expensive wood, exclusive tiles, natural stones can be used as finishes.

Luxury should be seen in expensive silver or nickel-plated mirror frames, chrome-plated custom door handles, stone or bronze figurines, and refined ceramic products.

You should not be afraid that modern technology will not fit into such an interior - the plasma panel screen will look great next to velvet draperies or furniture made from natural wood.

Art Deco Furniture

The furniture is characterized by a rational design, wood shades are usually used light, it can be maple, ash, rosewood. Carving can be used as decoration, wood can be opened with varnish. Today it is also customary to use furniture in the manufacture of which plywood, bamboo, ivory, and mother of pearl were used. The most fashionable color combination is black and white.

As upholstery materials, light skin or velvet is used. When decorating a bedroom in an Art Deco style, preference should be given to expensive and exclusive materials - these are the ones worthy of emphasizing the image of the owners of this room, their refined taste and desire to relax comfortably.

How to make windows

Windows should ideally be large and open. Window frames should be made of natural wood and painted in the same color as the walls. the use of ordinary plastic windows is not allowed. To create a more artistic interior, de-glazing of windows is used or stained-glass windows with drawings typical for the style are installed. Art Deco curtains are light, flowing materials, without any patterns. However, some designers use heavier, richer-looking fabrics.

Art Deco style bedroom - some helpful suggestions

Having learned the main components of the style, it will be easy to apply them when creating the interior in the bedroom. Firstly, the luxurious atmosphere created should not lead to a decrease in comfort and coziness. Original accessories that match the style and combine well with each other should produce an effect no less significant than the overall composition.

The classic color scheme remains relevant - black and white, diluted with small patches of milky white, silver and golden, red. If wallpaper will be used for wall decoration, then they can be with the original openwork pattern. To cover the floor, it is best to use natural parquet from light shades of wood.

Bedroom furniture should be distinguished by simplicity of form and severity of lines, a large number of small details or elaborate decorations will be inappropriate here.

As upholstery material, expensive fabrics with simple geometric prints or ornaments from straight and wavy lines can be used.
  Curtains are usually made from lightweight and highly drapable fabrics that match the color of walls or interior items.
