How to choose the right Sololift2 pump unit for your home, the main criteria for choosing a pump unit
Owners of private houses equipped with non-pressure sewer often face problems caused by poor self-cleaning pipes. And the reason here is not that some violations were made during the installation of the system - rather, it is a total saving of water and, as a result, its small flow in the system. Therefore, a more rational version of the sewage system will be forced, which allows plumbing devices to be located at any points convenient for users, including those located at considerable distances from the riser or in rooms located at a lower level than the external sewage system.

What is a sewage pump installation
A fairly wide selection of models of sewage pumping plants allows you to choose among them suitable models designed to connect a group of plumbing devices or only one of them. It should also be borne in mind that all models designed for systems including a toilet are equipped with a pump with a grinder. Ultimately, this feature allows you to reduce the diameter of the pipes. Grundfos Sololift systems are considered to be the most popular and reliable in operation today, in fact, these are structures completely prepared for operation consisting of:
- electric pump
- storage tank
- control unit.
Wastewater that appears as a result of the operation of plumbing devices in the house by gravity flows into a storage tank. When they reach a predetermined volume, the level sensor is triggered and the contents of the tank are forcedly removed through the pressure pipes.
If it is planned that the effluents will be without feces, then it will be enough to equip the sewage system with an installation for pumping contaminated water, for example, Sololift 2 D 2.
If the drains will contain toilet paper and faeces, an installation with a system for grinding and further pumping out wastewater will be required, and outlet pressure pipes with a diameter of up to 40 mm can be used.
Using a pumping unit allows you to remove wastewater at a distance of at least 100 m horizontally or about 10 m in height. You do not need to strictly monitor the slope, for installation you can use a bent pipe made of plastic.
An important advantage of forced sewage is the ability to:
- avoid significant waste of money and time,
- global redevelopment of the construction of the sewer system.
With the help of Sololift installations, it is possible to discharge waste water from plumbing facilities located below the sewage level, for example, a basement. Stations differ in compactness and high power; they can redirect liquid in any volumes from the storage tank. For their installation, you do not need a lot of space, and a long service line of the system will allow the owners for many years to save themselves from the problems of drainage.
The main differences between Sololift pumping stations
Since there are different types of stations, their use can be as rational as possible, for example Sololift 2 WC 1 can be installed if drainage from the toilet and sink is required. This model is equipped with an air vent valve and a high-quality cutting mechanism that can handle toilet paper or feminine hygiene items. But you should avoid falling into the sewage system of large objects made of dense materials - otherwise, the system may malfunction. The model is distinguished by a larger engine, an alarm block.
Types of Sololift pumping stations from Grundfos
The available Sololift sewer stations are divided into several types. The difference between them is in functionality and power, but in appearance it is difficult to distinguish between them. The station is a body made of high-quality durable polymer with a pump attached to it. Its inclusion is made automatically, upon reaching a certain level of liquid in the tank.
Some of the systems are equipped with a cutting impeller. Since the station’s inlet has a diameter of 100 mm, it is not difficult to connect it to a sewer pipe with a diameter of 110 mm.
A working pump can provide a rise in wastewater to a height of 5 to 100 meters.
Advantages and disadvantages
Since Sololift installations are unique and created using the latest technologies, it is rather difficult to talk about the presence of deficiencies in them. The presence in the design of the units of additional units and parts made it possible to perfect their functionality. At the same time, Sololift pumping units are distinguished by a very simple principle of operation.
The advantages of the stations include:
- reliability and durability, long warranty from the manufacturer,
- no need for additional cleaning,
- silent work
- small sizes
- inclined bottom, preventing the possibility of accumulation of debris and sediment,
- resistance to deformation when exposed to high temperature or high pressure,
- the presence of a carbon filter in the system, guaranteeing the elimination of unpleasant odors
- low power consumption.
Energy consumption occurs only during the period when the pump is turned on, however, the operation of the installation is possible only if there is uninterrupted power supply with electricity.
Sololift Sewer Pumping Line
Sale of pumping units is carried out in a form that is completely ready for operation, but their different models differ in installation method, functionality and cost. The Sololift line of stations includes the following series:
Sololift WC can be connected to drain drains only from the toilet, models with numbers 1 and 3 have the ability to additionally connect drains from the sink, shower or bathtub.
Sololift2 C - 3it will be required if the drains can have a sufficiently high temperature, for example - if you connect a washing or dishwasher. The maximum temperature of the liquid pumped by the pump is up to +75 degrees C. Installing this model equipped with a knife system will eliminate the risk of clogging the sewer with hygiene items. By the way, before the knife system of a similar quality was used only in professional pumps.
The system has similar characteristics Sololift CWC - 3, but a slightly modified design of the model allows its installation in sewer systems with a wall-mounted toilet. Thanks to the nozzle located at the end, installation is very simple.
The pumping station is slightly different from previous models in design and dimensions. Sololift D 3 it has a lower height, you can connect a shower, sink, bath to it. For models with more power, you can connect more sewage pipes. Each of the models involves an installation option that allows you to hide it from view.
Pump installation Sololift2 CWC-3 allows you to connect several plumbing devices to it, including those having wastewater with a temperature of up to 50 degrees, i.e. washing and dishwasher units. The model provides the ability to output the pressure pipe if necessary up or to the side. If liquid gets into the device whose temperature exceeds the permissible temperature, the overheat protection system is activated. The tightness of the tank prevents the possibility of leaks, even if the water level is exceeded.
The pumping unit is characterized by similar properties. Grundfos Sololift2 D-2, Only sanitary devices can be connected only two.
Pump installation Sololift 2 WC 3it features a more powerful engine, an improved cutting unit, the presence of an alarm that gives messages about the type of breakdown. The discharge pipe is equipped with a check valve, the discharge can be carried out in vertical or horizontal directions.
With this advanced design, it is quite easy to carry out service. The model has a drain connection.
What should be avoided during operation
Although the cutting mechanism of pumping units is highly efficient, large objects should not be allowed into it. For example, if a towel gets into the drain, you will have to resort to removing it manually, otherwise the device may turn off. It is also not advisable to prevent gasoline and corrosive chemicals from entering drains.
How to choose a sewer installation
- The first step is to decide whether additional plumbing devices will soon be installed. This will help to avoid problems with the lack of free nozzles for their connection.
- If the system will be located in such a place that it is necessary to supply drains to a high height, then the choice should be stopped on the model of the corresponding power.
- It should be borne in mind that the removal of effluents from the house is carried out along one sewer riser.
- The dimensions of the selected model should allow its installation in such a way that it is invisible and does not violate the integrity of the interior of the room.
Features of the installation of sewer stations Sololift
The installation principle is very simple, do it yourself do-it-yourselfers can do the installation. The main condition for a successful installation can be considered to ensure the free movement of wastewater from the pumping device into the sewage system, and if necessary, to ensure the possibility of unhindered lifting of water upward.
Experts recommend:
- To ensure the normal operation of the installation, the pump should be located at a distance of 40 cm from the toilet.
- The connection with the outlet pipe of the toilet should be well fixed and sealed.
- You can power the pump from a regular 220 W.
- The diameter of the pipes used during installation of the system can be in the range of 18-40 mm. They are laid so that they are less visible from the outside, perhaps hidden under the plasterboard paneling.
- The distance from the pumping device to the walls should not be less than 10 cm.
- Connecting the pump unit to the shower cubicle, the connection is made at the lower points. It is advisable to equip the drain with a filter.
- As fasteners during installation, only those that are included with the purchased unit should be used.
- The pipes are connected carefully, they are tightly joined, the joints are treated with sealants.
- During installation, you can use any kind of pipe, including plastic.
Starting the system can only be done by making sure that all parts of the structure are well connected.
