How to install a hanging toilet
The hanging toilet bowl has been known to mankind for at least 30 years. He does not have any fundamental differences from other types of toilets. The only feature of this plumbing is its mounting system, it is horizontal to the wall, and not to the floor like other models. In fact, this is why manufacturers of plumbing fixtures installation systems on a frame basis chose this type of toilet. By the way, installation systems are also made for floor toilets.
What is an installation system? In our opinion, this is simply an integrated system for installing equipment, in this case plumbing. The convenience of the system is that almost everything is included. In addition, this system greatly simplifies the installation of equipment and allows you to hide all utilities, including the drain tank. Even a person who is poorly versed in plumbing wisdom can install it. The main thing is accuracy. So how do you install a hanging toilet? Read on.

What the wall-hung toilet system consists of
These systems are divided into two types:
- Block installations, in fact this is the same set of tank + toilet bowl. The difference between such a product and a conventional compact toilet is that such a system has a set of anchor bolts, on which the plumbing is attached to the wall. Well, then, the user of such a system is free to finish the wall, which completely hides all communications. In this case, the installation of such a system is only possible on solid walls that can withstand weight up to 400 kg.
- Frame installations were created specifically for installation sites with weak walls, or for an exclusive toilet design. This design allows you to place the toilet anywhere in the space where communications are made. At least in the corner of the room (a special corner frame).
Standard construction dimensions are as follows:
- block systems have a depth of 100 to 150 mm and a height of up to 1000 mm;
- the frame structure has a width of 500–600 mm, a depth of up to 300 mm and a height of up to 1400 mm (moreover, as a rule, the height can be adjusted).
In turn, the frames also have their own gradation:
- for fastening to capital walls;
- for fastening to wooden, plasterboard walls and partitions;
- universal.
The difference lies in the structural load distribution of the frame; in the last two versions, the load center is shifted to the floor.
What to look for before installation?
The choice of wall mounted toilet installation system is a separate issue. After humanity has made the improvement of pots and gadgets the main direction of its development, there is practically nothing impossible in the products of this industry. You want, take a toilet with a built-in MP-3 player, with heating, with LED backlight or a hanging toilet with a micro-lift. The main thing is that there would be enough money. But it is, a philosophical digression. Its essence is that everyone chooses what is most appropriate from his point of view. Some regulations and advice are not appropriate here.
As for direct installation, the equipment kit, as a rule, includes everything you need (adapters, nozzles, gaskets, etc.). But it is clear that the manufacturer cannot foresee all the nuances of our sewage system. Therefore, we will do this, and we will purchase everything necessary.
What needs to be done:
- The flush of the hanging toilet is horizontal. So, we need to make the appropriate entrance to the sewer pipe, at an angle of 900. If necessary, we will buy the necessary adapters with a diameter of 90 or 110 mm (plastic, porcelain to whom you prefer).
- Since all communications will be tightly closed, it is necessary to organize the supply of water to the tank with a minimum number of connections and categorically exclude flexible hoses. These are all potential leak points. And with this installation method, to eliminate breakdowns, you will have to break the wall, and this is a new and unplanned repair in the toilet.
This is the main thing you need to take care of before the installation process. All purchased, now you can mount.
Installation of a hanging toilet
The installation process will depend on the selected system: block or frame. The entire installation process resembles a designer. Therefore, you should not be afraid of him. The most important thing is to follow the rule: measure seven times, cut one. And such qualities as accuracy and attentiveness are also needed.
With a block system, the procedure is as follows:
- It all starts with the marking of the installation site. If this is a bathroom in the apartment, then its area is relatively small. In such a room, the axis of the toilet will coincide with the axis of the room. In all other cases, the axis of the toilet should be tied to the axis of entry into the sewer pipe. We mark the axis on the wall with a mounting pencil.
- After marking the axis, depending on the size of our block system, measure the height. It is usually in the range of 800 to 1000 mm.
- The next step is marking under the dowels, on which the drain tank and toilet bowl will hang. Here we look at the dimensions in the installation instructions. Each manufacturer and model has their own. We mark it at an equal distance from the axis. Those. if the distance between the fasteners is 50 cm, then on each side of the axis we mark 25 cm.
- We take a perforator with a drill for concrete (the diameter is exactly the same as for dowels) and make holes in the wall. We hammer the expansion bolt shield.
- We attach the tank and tighten the bolts. According to the instructions, we twist the drain device. The main thing is to double-check whether all insulating gaskets are installed. Next, we connect the pipe with cold water to the tank.
- In the holes for mounting the toilet, we screw the studs that come with the kit. The length of the issue of studs from the wall will depend on the model of the toilet. We do not install the toilet bowl itself until the wall is finished, only bolts stick out.
- Depending on the height of the installation of the drain tank, the height of the toilet bowl is standard 40 cm from the floor to the upper edge, we may need to install a clamp for rigidly fixing the drain hose. How necessary is it, you need to look at the design of such a system.
Actually that's all the work. It is advisable to check the drain device for leaks before wall decoration. Just open the water supply tap, wait for the tank to fill up and see if there are any leaks. We lower the tanks in a bucket, there are no more than 10 liters. We eliminate defects.
The installation process for a toilet with a frame is even simpler; almost all fittings are already fixed there. Only accurate marking for the dowels and alignment of the entire structure strictly according to the level are necessary. Follow the detailed installation instructions and everything will work out.
