Garden benches
Even at the smallest summer cottage, you can always find a place for a simple, rustic style, shop, which, in addition to its direct purpose, will add coziness to the garden landscape and add naturalness to the site. A shop will look good in a secluded corner between the trees or in a traditional place of village rest near the entrance to the house.
The material for this type of bench is usually wood. What could be easier on two thick blocks of wood to put a wide board.
However, the convenience in this design is not enough. Therefore, if the territory allows, it is better to use other types of benches for relaxation.
Plastic benches
If there is no claim to sophistication, if just functionality and practicality are important, the choice of a plastic bench is ideal. Such a bench can be easily moved around the site. An additional advantage is a wide selection of colors and the ability to make various combinations using plastic chairs and sun umbrellas.
The disadvantage of this product is poor stability., But this is solved if you try to dig a bench into the ground.
Wooden benches
The most popular and inexpensive type of wooden country benches is the traditional one, made of transverse wooden bars or thin logs. But the country style, painted in bright colors, does not spoil the landscape of the site. Such a decor element is also possible - at the corners of a square or rectangular flowerbed, four thick 200x200 bars are dug into the ground, an even planed board is placed on top of the bars, and the space from the ground to the board is clogged with thin boards at intervals.
Such an impromptu bench-flowerbed will look very advantageous and give pleasure to crouching with its aromas. And what a wonderful bench you can make around a tree!
Author's wooden benches made by masters of wooden sculpture are noteworthy. The massive bench from a tree sawn along the trunk, standing on props made of stumps with roots, will look unique. Or a shop decorated with elements of wooden sculpture.
Metal benches
Metal products are in great demand among modern summer residents. Wrought iron benches look very elegant. Because of its diversity, metal benches can be entered into almost any landscape of a summer cottage. And the combined structures of metal and wood provide unlimited possibilities for the design of the territory.
These beautiful benches are also durable, attracting also with their practicality. If you provide a canopy, for example, made of polycarbonate, rain protection is also provided. The main threat of such benches is metal hunters, therefore, it is necessary to provide for their reliable shelter during the absence.
Concrete and stone benches
Monument and solidity to the landscape decoration of the garden area will be given by benches made of gypsum, concrete or stone. But such structures require careful attention, as they are suitable only for certain types of design that require the intervention of specialists.
In addition, such products require very careful care. However, again, nothing prevents you from combining and, for example, making just concrete supports for a wooden bench. It will turn out fundamentally, practically and inexpensively.
DIY garden bench
Not everyone can afford to buy a finished product. But do not despair. There are many ways to make a bench yourself. After all, a garden bench with your own hands is, in addition to the right thing, also a reason for pride. For the manufacture does not need much, a simple and reliable country bench can be obtained from improvised materials that are always present. Elementary tool planer, hammer, hacksaw, nails. And the waste of lumber trimming of bars, boards, logs for firewood. Of course, this will not be a work of art, but the cost of manufacturing is minimal. If there is a jigsaw, you can cut out patterns for some elements of the bench.
Garden Bench Care
Additional attention must be paid to the care of garden benches, as they are constantly outdoors. All wooden surfaces must be treated, for example, with a colored antiseptic that protects the wood and gives the desired shade. Iron structures must be painted, and non-ferrous metal varnished. Concrete and gypsum surfaces also require painting. With proper care, benches for summer cottages serve for a long time, solving their main tasks, ennobling the territory and giving a place to rest.
