How to cover the wall with Venetian stucco with your own hands?
Not so long ago, decorative plaster could only be done by professionals. Today, using all kinds of instructions, knowledge of the Internet, choosing plaster of the right quality and color, you can apply Venetian plaster with your own hands.
Initially, you need to choose the color scheme of the future plaster. The color of the plaster, before your eyes, the manufacturer or seller will mix and you will get a one-color mass, not knowing all the nuances of applying decorative plaster, such a one-color mass may surprise you.
But the fact is that all shades appear at the end of the work and are the result of applying, grinding and complete processing of the plaster.
The first step in the work is to prepare the foundation - it is necessary to putty all the bumps, clean the walls of dust and dirt, close the frames of windows, doors, skirting boards with paper or film.
If two types of plaster (different colors) are used during work, it is better to divide the wall at the level of 1/3 of the floor, or slightly higher, but do not divide the wall in half, otherwise the ceilings will seem much lower than they actually are.
Using masking tape, 7 cm wide, mark the boundary of separation, thereby the end of the surface will be visible and you will not go to the border of the second section.
Since you need good ventilation to dry the plaster, open the windows.
What is necessary for work:
-decorative plaster;
- container for plaster in the form of a small bath that fits in the hand;
- steel spatula for polishing;
-sandpaper;
-towel;
- adhesive tape.
The progress of the work in stages.
First stage: so that the spatula does not leave deep furrows, it is necessary to sand the edges of the spatula.
Second phase: in order to make it convenient to clean off the excess mass of plaster from the spatula - transfer part of the plaster to a small bath (the plaster has a consistency slightly thicker than the paint).
The third stage: decorative plaster is applied with a spatula from the corner in the form of arbitrary strokes, keep the spatula at an acute angle to the wall (20 *). Try not to apply a thick layer.
Fourth stage: a layer of decorative plaster is applied at a time to wall sections up to 120 cm., after drying, remove tubercles thicker than 0.3 cm, not allowing them to dry. The wall should be visible after the first layer of plaster.
The fifth stage: after two to four hours, when the first coat dries, a second coat is applied. At this time, the places where the wall shines through are filled. The technology of Venetian plaster includes turning the trowel when applying the plaster from right to left and left to right, while the spatula is kept at an angle of at least 45 *.
Sixth stage: after 24 hours, the plaster will dry, sand the walls using 400 grit sandpaper. Next, using a clean, dry cloth, wipe the entire sanded surface, vacuum the floor and walls using a brush head.
Seventh stage: sweep the spatula over the entire surface, making sharp sweeping movements, now polish the coating with a steel spatula. On the surface of the plaster, using long sweeping movements, draw the tip of a spatula several times.
The eighth stage: the work is finished, carefully remove the masking tape, try not to tear off the Venetian plaster, in difficult places use a sharp spatula, cut the adhesive tape with it.
