Rotary doors: types and features of application
What is rotary the door? A modern technological novelty or a mechanism of revolving doors that is well known to us. Answer: both!
The rotor is the rotating part of the machine, mechanism. And if we assume that the door mechanism can also rotate, be rotary, then the door itself can be rotary, i.e. spinning around its axis in all directions (during opening / closing).
Types of rotary doors:
- revolving (rotor) doors, installed at the entrance to public institutions, such as a shopping center, clinic, shop, etc. These are glass, 4-wing revolving doors, long known and familiar to all.
- interior the door with rotor mechanism (rotor doors): interior doors, consisting of 1 or two wings, opening both in the direction of movement and against it. It is about the interroom rotary doors that we will talk in more detail.
Interior doors with a rotary mechanism: advantages and disadvantages
Strict and laconic lines of modern high-tech interiors and constantly moving progress have given impetus to the creation of rotary doors of a new generation of rotary doors, whose innovative rotor system allows:
- open the door in any direction: which is very convenient, especially if a family with small children or people with limited mobility lives in an apartment with such doors.
- make rotary any interior door you like weighing up to 70 kg., except for whole glass. That allows you to harmoniously fit the rotary door into any modern interior. An all-glass sheet cannot be used with a rotor mechanism because of the significant weight of the glass and the impossibility of fixing the accessories of the rotor system. But the combined glass-plastic / wood / metal, can productively solve this problem.
- quickly and efficiently install a rotary door. The roto-door is sold complete with all accessories: a rotor mechanism that allows it to rotate around its axis (open and close in any direction), a guide rail installed at the top, and elements of the door frame.
- significantly save space in the apartment, because the rotary door, in the open position, is very compactly placed perpendicular to the surface of the door slope or in cluttered, non-standard located doorways, which gives greater freedom of action in the arrangement of furniture near the door. At the same time, a double-leaf rotor door is even more optimal for those for whom space saving is the main requirement for a door.
- to reduce heat losses due to drafts and increase the noise and dust insulation of the room: thanks to the same rotary mechanism that works smoothly and silently. And also, the possibility of installing magnetic locks on such a door and the presence of an integrated brush seal on the underside of the door leaf.
- avoid sagging doors and possible injury and deformation of the adjacent flooring and the door leaf itself.
The following disadvantages of rotary doors include:
- rotary doors for which the price is quite impressive, not everyone can afford it. And this is the most important shortcoming of roto-doors at the moment. So, for example, the rotary door Sophia has an initial cost of almost 1,500 thousand dollars. On the modern market of interior doors there are also cheaper analogues of rotor mechanisms, delivered both separately and complete with a door, but even they have a cost - above average.
Additional, although not significant, as they are easily corrected, the disadvantages of rotary doors:
- the presence of necessarily necessarily even flooras well as a uniform floor covering, without height differences, at the place of their installation (for example, with a difference of coatings: laminate carpet, a special overlay is used that ensures normal, optimal movement of the rotor door in any direction).
