Flowering annuals
The main disadvantage of annual flowers is their extremely short lifespan. Usually, the flowering period lasts from a couple of weeks to 1.5-2 months. Given that the preparatory period takes twice as much time, this is extremely small. Of course there is always a way out and when planting and growing it is possible to take into account the characteristics of a particular variety and plant annuals, taking into account their flowering periods.
It is also necessary at the stage of seed selection to determine their preferences. Some plants like shady places and prefer soft, diffused light to the burning rays of the sun. And some flowers feel good only bathing in bright sunlight and bloom profusely, enjoying the unbearable heat.
If you take these features of annuals seriously enough, you can use literally every piece of the garden to plant flowers, and they will probably be grateful for the careful selection of the habitat.
Watering annual flowers
In addition to competent planning, to extend the flowering period of annuals, you must carefully adhere to the recommended watering scheme. Most plants dump their inflorescences, dry out and die precisely because irrigation is not regular and this significantly shortens the already short-lived flower life.
The best time to water is in the early morning. It was at this time that the soil was slightly moist from dew, it absorbs moisture best. It is necessary to use standing water, which basked in the sun all the previous day. Water from a hose is extremely harmful to delicate flowers. The difference between the temperature of warm soil and cold water can significantly affect the life of annual flowers. When watering, it should also be borne in mind that very many varieties and species of plants do not like when they are watered from above on inflorescences. Such flowers must be watered under the spine, trying not to erode the soil with too strong a stream of water.
Feeding annual flowers and plants
Lack of necessary nutrients in the soil can significantly reduce the flowering period of annuals. To prevent this, it is necessary to feed and fertilize plants on time.
Of course, any gardener who plans to grow luxurious bright flowers that will become a real decoration of the garden, initially prepares a suitable soil in which all useful trace elements must be present. To do this, mix the earth with humus, lime it in advance and add a little peat. But the fact is that in a short period of their life, flowers literally draw out all the useful substances, striving to gain strength as much as possible during their short flowering period. Therefore, they simply need top dressing.
Spring fertilizing is carried out with mineral fertilizers, which are bred at the rate of 50g of fertilizers per 10 liters of water. This solution is applied directly under the bush to prevent contact with delicate leaves.
For summer top dressing, you can use ordinary chicken or cow manure, which is insisted for one to two days. To prepare top dressing, 1 kg of litter per 10 liters of water is taken. When making the mixture under the bushes, it should be borne in mind that here the calculation of the required amount is made in liters and per square meter, you need about 10 liters of nutrient solution.
If you are not sure that this feeding is necessary for the flowers, then you should just carefully examine them. As a rule, plants that need additional nutrition have dried-up leaf tips, small and quickly withered flowers have a common unhealthy appearance.

Watering and fertilizing, this is not a complete list of all agrotechnical measures to extend the flowering period of annual flowers. They must be looked after throughout the summer, carefully monitoring their condition and growth characteristics.
In order for the flowers to please their beauty for a long time, it is necessary to regularly loosen the soil under the bushes and remove all weeds that can pick up all the necessary nutrients. It is impossible that next to low plants, they grow too large, because due to lack of sunlight, babies can die. It is necessary to plan flower beds so that each plant receives its portion of the sun.
Removing faded buds will significantly increase the active life of flowers. The fact is that a faded plant begins to actively form seeds and all its forces are spent on ensuring the further continuation of life. If you dry flowers on time, then flowering can be extended at least twice.
The garden in general is an extremely responsive organism that gratefully responds to care and timely care and pays for it with the enchanting beauty of lushly flowering plants and the incomparable aroma of blooming buds. You just need to make a little effort.
