Talc magnesite tile, where used, tile for baths of talc magnesite
At the very beginning, it should be clarified what exactly is a potted stone, or talc magnesite. This mineral is also called mammoth stone, in France it is called stearite. Soapy to the touch, due to the high capacity of talc, this stone has been familiar to man for a long time and was used as an ornamental one, it was used to make seals, dishes, figurines.

Talc magnesite - properties of an amazing potted stone
Sometimes among the synonyms of talc-magnesite are called talchochlorite, but the statement is not entirely true, the composition of these varieties of minerals is not identical, it is these seemingly insignificant changes in composition that determine the properties of stones and their field of application. The industrial extraction of talchochlorite is carried out in Karelia, and talc magnesite in Finland, where it is called in a special way - hot stone. Karelian talchochlorite contains about 30-35% chlorite, from 41 to 46% talc and 5-10% magnesite. Finnish hot stone - 35-60% consists of magnesite and talc, chlorite can contain from 5 to 8%. Magnesite gives the stone unique heat-saving properties and strength.
The unusual properties of stearitis people noticed a long time:
- the mineral is resistant to fire, does not fade from its effects and does not melt,
- a grid of microscopic cracks does not appear on it with sudden changes in temperature,
- when immersed in a warm environment, it accumulates heat very quickly, but the process of cooling the stone is extremely slow,
- heated stones for a long time emit a soft, beneficial effect on human health, warmth.
All these properties of the stone make it an ideal material for creating:
- fireplaces and stoves
- tiles and floor coverings,
- unique dishes and other household items.
Manufactured by Finnish craftsmen, in particular, the Tulikivi company, talc magnesite products are shipped to many countries around the world and are in high demand there.
Talc magnesia is one of the minerals that are used for medicinal purposes, in particular in the treatment of:
- sciatica and sciatica,
- osteochondrosis and limb injuries.
Hot-water tiles are made of stone, which, according to the instructions, are heated for half an hour in a container of hot water or in the oven, and then applied to pain points. In the process of cooling, the stone warms up the body tissues well. If necessary, the stone is heated again, from repeated repetitions of the cooling-heating process, its properties do not change.
Be sure to remember the other positive qualities of the stone:
- its soft thermal radiation is very similar to that of the sun,
- heating occurs 10 times faster than that of a conventional kiln brick, cooling is 2 times slower,
- it has a specific gravity 2.5 times larger than a brick, a monolithic structure provides high heat capacity and thermal conductivity,
- heat losses of a furnace made of talc magnesite carry half as much as brick counterparts, whereas brick is a porous heat insulator, talc magnesite is an excellent heat conductor,
- due to the solid structure, grinding of stone can be done in the finished product,
- heating of the stone to +1200 C can be carried out an infinite number of times, while the structure of the material will not be disturbed,
- the material is environmentally friendly, it can be used for the manufacture of dishes and containers for food storage,
Hot stone stoves for bath and sauna
Tulikivi, the world-famous Finnish manufacturer of sauna stoves, produces all kinds of models, both electric and wood, with talc-magnesite finish.
It is impossible to argue that the use of hot stone makes stove heaters ideal in terms of:
- creating a special microclimate in the steam room,
- receiving high quality steam,
- the possibility of exploitation over a long period.
Potted stone in large pieces is suitable for falling asleep in the heater, since it accumulates heat very quickly, its use allows avoiding the situation when boiling water begins before the stones reach the optimum temperature, which is very important for good soaring.
The talc magnesite cladding also plays the role of a screen reflecting the hard red radiation coming from the hot metal, emitting soft, healing heat inside the room.
For those who like to steam in black, Tulikivi offers special models of furnaces; the company also produces ready-made talc magnesite claddings for Castor stoves.
Among the advantages of bathing stoves made of potted stone, it should be noted that the stove outside does not heat during the furnace, i.e. there is no risk of burns from touching the furnace surface. Naturally, there is no need to build a fence around the object. Installation of such a furnace can be done anywhere in the steam room.
Electric stoves for a sauna with a heater are distinguished by excellent characteristics: their design is thought out, materials for their manufacture are used of exceptionally high quality.
The function of precise temperature control gives a double advantage:
- the ability to significantly reduce energy consumption,
- by setting different temperature of the stones and the temperature of the sauna to get the effect of burning or soft steam - depending on your preferences.
The stoves with tackle magnesite finish have an attractive modern design, with special details made of handmade ceramics and stainless steel. The high quality of the stone will allow them to be exploited for many years.

Talcagnesite Fireplaces - Modern and Classic Homes
Tulikivi's classic talc-magnesite fireplaces are ideal examples of classic home fires. They are equipped with a modern swirl furnace that allows you to reduce the consumption of firewood and reduce emissions to a minimum. The large heat-accumulating mass of stone products allows you to use them for heating large areas, while the air does not lose oxygen, and the heat does not run off to the ceiling, and evenly fills the room. A talc magnesite fireplace is capable of accumulating enough heat in 2-3 hours to heat a room of 40-100 sq. m throughout the day.
Since hot stone has a layered structure, its thermal conductivity in different directions will be different. During the construction of the fireplace, the internal stones are laid horizontally. Their heating occurs very quickly, heat is also quickly transferred to the outer walls. The outer walls are laid out so that the lamination of the stone was located vertically. This slows down the process of heat leaving the furnace and it will remain warm for a long time. In this case, the surface temperature of the stove will be within + 90C.
As ornaments of fireplaces, shelves and different types of furnace doors are used, various models of fireplaces are provided to the attention of the buyer, including:
- classic and modern
- smart models for an energy-efficient home,
- convection
- functional, with oven and hob.
Among the variety of models, it is easy to choose those that are intended for installation:
- as a partition,
- in the corner of the room
- along a straight wall.
A talc magnesite fireplace has a considerable price, but installed in a country house or cottage, it will become a real decoration, will warm the house on an autumn rainy evening or in a winter cold, create a comfortable and romantic atmosphere in the house.
