Another summer masterpiece - do-it-yourself drinker for birds, choose material, make, install
In a private suburban area, the presence of birds, whether sparrows and titmouse and important bullfinches, is important. In the summer, these feathered orderlies peck all the bugs and pests that spoil the delicate seedlings, and in winter they simply delight the soul with their cheerful tweets. In order to create the necessary conditions for a well-fed life for them and to accustom a large bird family to their site, you can make a feeder in which bread crumbs and cereal grains are poured. The feeder must be supplemented with a special drinking bowl, which will allow the birds not to look for a reservoir, but to drink clean water and clean the feathers immediately after dinner.

Two in one, or what is a drinking trough
Most often, the bird feeder is a small plastic box without a lid with side mounts. If necessary, feed is poured into it or water is poured. A huge drawback of this option is the need to combine two functions. Of course, you can purchase two drinking bowls at once and fill them with food and water separately. But this is rather a home way of feeding, for birds that are kept in cages, on the walls of which it is convenient to fix these containers. In addition, they are not equipped with a roof and unplanned precipitation can spoil the entire feed. For free birds it is better to choose a separate drinking bowl (there are a lot of them sold in specialized stores) or make it yourself.
How to make a drinker for birds
The simplest automatic drinker for birds is made in literally 20 minutes and is a rather original design of plastic bottles. To make it, you will need two bottles, one with a capacity of five liters (they sell drinking water in any supermarket), and the second with a volume of two liters.
Step 1. Trim the five-liter bottle along the top edge so that it forms a shallow bowl with a cork underneath. It is enough if its depth is about 10cm.
Step 2. Unscrew plugs from both containers and connect them to each other using a bolt. Corks have different diameters and you need to insert a small one into a large one and tightly fix them. The threads on the covers should be on one side.
Step 3. In a two-liter bottle, make a small hole (no more than 1 cm) at a height not exceeding the depth of the bowl from a large eggplant. Since we made the cup about 10 cm high, the hole in the small one can be made 5-7 cm from the neck.
Step 4 Fill the bottle with water and screw it onto the bowl using the double caps.
Now, after turning this design down with its necks, the water from the hole made in the small bottle will drain into the bowl. Moreover, it will be typed exactly at the level at which the hole was made. As the birds evaporate and spray liquid from the bowl, the water will automatically fill at this level. Here's an original do-it-yourself drinker for birds with your own hands will result.
Nipple drinkers for birds
Nipple drinkers for birds are a completely different system for drinking birds. First of all, it should immediately be noted that these drinkers are sold in abundance in specialized stores, and their prices are extremely low. But for lovers of home-made and here there is an opportunity to do it yourself.
So, the design of the nipple drinker does not provide for automatic water supply. This drinking bowl works on the principle of a washstand, pressed the nipple received a serving of water. Birds very quickly begin to understand exactly how to act in order to get the long-awaited moisture and peck the nipple with pleasure. In order to prevent water from draining when the floor is pressed, the drinkers are equipped with special drop eliminators that are mounted directly under the nipple.
Vacuum drinking bowls for birds
The vacuum drinker works on the same principle as our homemade plastic bottle. The principle of its work is no different. All the difference is that they made the bottle themselves and produced the vacuum at the factory. This drinking bowl is a volumetric flask with a lid-cup. In the flask at a small height, a hole was made for the drainage of water, which poured into the cup and ceases to flow as it is filled. Such drinkers are extremely convenient and light.
Cement Bird Drinker
If you wish, you can organize a real pool for birds, and design it in an original style. To do this, you need burdock leaves and cement mortar.
On a flat surface it is necessary to pour a pile of sand. Lay a couple of burdock leaves (face down) on this slide.
After that, dilute the cement at the rate of 1/3 (cement / sand) and dilute it with water to the consistency of thick sour cream. The resulting mixture must be carefully applied to the leaves. The layer thickness should not be more than 2cm. And closer to the edge of the sheet you need to make the layer as thin as possible.
Cover the product with foil and wait until it dries. After drying, carefully separate the burdock from the cement. That's all.
An original bird-drinking pool is ready. You only need to grind the edges with a file and paint it in bright colors.
The original form of the drinking bowl fits perfectly into the garden landscape and decorates any area.
