Types of barbecue
It is believed that barbecue was invented in the Caucasus, since natural, atmospheric features (rarefied air) did not allow people to cook on an open fire. The flame did not flare up, and the water in the boilers did not boil. But the coals burned up very quickly and it was possible to fry pieces of meat on them. So it happened that this method of preparation became the main one for the highlanders, and it was they who became the inventors of the first brazier in the form in which we see it now. Now barbecues can be classified as follows:
Portable braziers. They are made of sheet iron and, thanks to the design features, can be easily disassembled and assembled. Such a barbecue can be rearranged to any place or taken with you to travel to nature.
Braziers are stationary. This is a much more massive design, not designed to move from place to place. Most often, they are made of brick, making a multifunctional barbecue, which can serve as a barbecue, grill and smokehouse. But they also weld metal stationary barbecues, simply making them more massive and supplying additional elements that accelerate the process of burning coal.
How to choose a place for barbecue for a summer residence
Before you think about how to make a beautiful brazier, you need to determine its location. It is not recommended to install the brazier in the following places:
- Near the wooden fences. Sparks and heat can cause a fire and instead of juicy kebabs, you can get a real fire.
- Near the toilet, trash piles and compost pits. Well, here you yourself understand. It’s not a pleasure to inhale the miasma of rotting plants and smell the latrine during cooking.
- Near the playground for games or dog kennels. They will be enveloped in smoke and spoil the guys all the games, and the dog will make them leave their homes, because the dog’s nose is much more sensitive to any smells.
It is best to position the structure away from the above places and try to position it so that smoke does not enter the windows either to you or your neighbors. It is desirable that a pleasant view opens up from the place of preparation (flower beds, shrubs, trees), since this incredibly improves the mood and even kebabs in such places are tastier.
How to make a brick grill
Brick barbecue is a rather massive construction, so you need to start building it with arranging the foundation. Moreover, the foundation pit itself should be somewhat larger than the building itself, and it should not be deepened too much.
After the ditch is ready, you need to lay out the bottom with old pieces of roofing material and pour a mixture of coarse gravel and broken brick on it, then pour it all with cement. Before leaving the foundation for solidification, it is necessary to check the level of how evenly the solution is distributed and if a slope is detected, level everything out properly.
The first row begins with a continuous laying of wet brick (experts recommend watering it with water before starting to work). The second row can already be put in a checkerboard pattern and you need to check the masonry level after each row. Somewhere on the fourth row you can insert a metal rod directly into the masonry. This will be the brazier. To do this, you need to make the necessary dimensions in the brick and skip the rods in them. Next, the brick is laid in rows to the desired height. Hood and roof are constructed of galvanized iron. Moreover, the roof can be made on four pillars, capturing a solid area so that a table and chairs can fit under it. Actually, that's all, the question of how to make a brazier correctly can be considered considered.
How to make a barbecue do-it-yourself sheet metal
In order to make a folding brazier with your own hands, a welding machine is not needed, therefore, it is quite possible to cope with this means at hand. The metal is selected based on its thickness, and it should be at least 1.5-2 cm. Otherwise, the structure will burn out too quickly. Before you make a brazier, the sizes are determined in advance and you need to focus on the length of skewers that you usually use. Most often, skewers are used in standard sizes 60cm. Therefore, the length of the barbecue can be made in 65cm, and a width of 45cm. This is enough to burn the right amount of coal in it, and the skewers lay down reliably.
First, the bottom of the barbecue is cut out, and it is necessary to make an allowance of 5 cm on each edge, because they will need to be bent at an angle of 90 degrees. Then you need to cut out the side walls and cut them out. Drill holes for air access at the bottom of the side walls. Next, you need to screw (or weld) to the bottom and walls of the furniture canopies that will allow the structure to fold.
Brazier legs are best made from long bolts. You just need to weld the nuts from them from the bottom of the structure and collect the bolts while collecting the brazier. That's all. You can start grilling kebabs in your new, newly made barbecue!
