Which frame for the gazebo is better to choose
The most popular in the construction of the frame for the gazebo is metal and wood. Often, for this purpose, builders also use brick or plastic, however, specifically in this article we will consider frames for arbors made of metal and wood. We will compare their characteristics and advantages.
So, the metal frame will allow you to lay a solid foundation for your future gazebo. It does not require special tricks when installing on absolutely any type of foundation and is distinguished by such characteristics as strength and durability.
Such a frame can be sheathed with wood and, if desired, even decorated with decorative elements, carvings.
The advantages of a metal frame include:
- ease of use. The metal beams needed to create the frame are much more mobile, they can be moved or transported without problems if such a need arises;
- ease of construction and speed of installation;
- fire resistance. In a metal gazebo, you can arrange a brazier or oven without any fear.
The disadvantages of metal arbors can be attributed to the probability that it can rust over time. However, this drawback is not so significant, especially if you carefully monitor your gazebo in time to clean and tint rusted places.
Wood is the material that builders use most often in the manufacture of the frame for the gazebo. One of the main advantages of wooden arbors is environmental friendliness, a healthy microclimate inside and a pleasant aesthetic appearance from the outside. Of course, wood is not as durable material as the same metal, but with proper care it can easily last for many decades.
For the tree to serve for a long time, it is necessary to treat all surfaces in contact with external weather conditions once a year, for example, with an antiseptic. It will protect the tree from the harmful effects of moisture and prevent premature decay. At the same time, do not forget that moisture is far from the only enemy of the tree, there are still insects that can also spoil the frame of the gazebo.
Metal frame for gazebo
As mentioned above, metal is one of the most popular materials in the construction of a frame for a gazebo. This is primarily due to the fact that such a frame does not require special attention to the quality of the foundation on which it will be installed.
How to make a frame of a gazebo made of metal? Pretty simple! Especially if you plan to create a small cozy gazebo. In this case, you can even make it portable and do without the need to equip the foundation. To create the frame of such a portable gazebo, it is enough to arm yourself with the necessary tools, patience and the metal profiles themselves.
The frame of the gazebo can be of very different shapes, hexagonal, square, rectangular. To create a hexagonal structure, it is necessary to markup at the place where our gazebo will be located. Then you need to cut the channel into segments, each of which is equal to a chord of a certain chord of a hexagon. All parts are joined by welding.
After the base is ready, you can proceed directly to the creation of the frame itself. Here, everything is also quite simple enough just to weld the sections of the profile pipe of the required size to the vertices of the hexagon. After that, on the upper part of the frame, it is necessary to weld the truss pipes at an angle of 10 degrees with respect to the horizontal line. Then a 40x25 mm pipe is taken and a crate is created.
Here, in fact, all the wisdom of the metal gazebo is ready. It remains only to cover the roof with polycarbonate or any other roofing material.
Timber arbor frame
How to assemble the frame of the gazebo from the timber, the question is not so simple as the collection of a metal frame. At the first stage of creating the frame, you need to assemble the lower harness. For these purposes, the bars (size 10x10) along the perimeter of our future gazebo are joined together by means of notches and, for greater reliability, are attached to each other using plates or the corners of self-tapping screws on wood. As an option, fastening brackets can be used to fasten bars with a large cross section.
Corner and intermediate racks in the gazebo from the bars are installed only after the lower harness is ready. Support racks need to be fixed with slopes. At the same time, a timber for them can be taken of the same size 10x10. After the support racks are installed, you can proceed to the upper harness and only then to the installation of the rafter system.
To make the upper harness easier, it is recommended to immediately select grooves of approximately 5x7 cm in future support columns. The rafters should diagonally fall into these grooves. In this case, one self-tapping screw should enter the beam diagonally on one side, the second on the other. For greater reliability of the structure, you can also resort to the help of metal corners.
Attention! Do not forget to install racks also along the edges of the future doorway.
When choosing roofing material for an arbor, one should rely not only on the qualitative characteristics of a particular material, but also on individual wishes. So, it can be a corrugated board, ondulin or soft roof.

Frame construction: advantages and disadvantages
In the end, I would like to talk a little about frame technology. Frame construction is the most inexpensive and fastest way to get a wonderful gazebo. And these advantages are one of the main advantages of this type of construction. Therefore, if you want to find the easiest and cheapest way to get a gazebo on a summer cottage - this method is for you.
Also, the advantages of frame construction include an insignificant degree of susceptibility to soil movement, as well as the ease of the structure itself, so that you will not have any complications with arranging a powerful foundation. And, of course, one of the most pleasant features of wireframe construction technology is the ability to create a variety of architectural forms.
In contrast to the advantages of frame construction, you can put a relatively short service life of such a design. But here a lot will depend on your care for the gazebo.
