Outdoor Pools: Views
Infinity pool it is not only convenient and beautiful, but also very useful both for human health and for creating the optimal microclimate for plants throughout the garden. That is why, more and more people equip ponds and pools at their summer cottages and country houses, especially since today it is:
- available,
- the assortment of pools of different types allows you to choose the best pool for a particular wallet, a specific site.
Types of pools for summer cottages:
-inflatable pool: The easiest and cheapest way to arrange water treatments for the whole family on a summer day.
composite pool (based on polypropylene, acrylic): a pool, which is a finished bowl of any size and shape, often dug into the ground.
ceramic or mosaic pool: The most durable and durable pool view. The exterior, finish of such a pool can be ceramic tiles, mosaics.
-film pool:the bowl is covered with a special polyvinyl chloride film, which is also called the liner)
-frame pool:this is a kind of analogue of a film pool, only on a metal frame.
Frame or film pool: differences and similarities
Why do I want to talk separately about frame and film pools separately?
Because often these two concepts are skeleton and film in the people replace each other.
In fact, both of these types of pools are film-like, with all the characteristics characteristic of a film, the similarities end there.
How do they differ from each other?
- The film pool must have a prepared concrete or brick and plastered with cement-sand mortar bowl. And for the frame film pool, only a flat base in the pit is enough, because its walls are reinforced with a metal frame.
- The film pool is covered with a film pre-cut to the required size, and the seams are soldered with a special tool. And the frame film pool has a predetermined, holistic shape.
- The film pool requires certain specific experience, knowledge and skills (sizing seams, technology and sequence of covering with a film) for its installation. A frame film pool can be assembled with basic knowledge in construction and guided by the instructions.
- the frame pool is a more mobile, seasonal version of the pool at the cottage, in contrast to the film fully stationary pool.
We will talk specifically about the film pool, its pros and cons.
Film Pool: Pros and Cons
Pluses of the film pool in the country:
- the film pool can be of any shape, size, color and pattern (plain or mosaic, marble, etc.), located practically anywhere in the garden or courtyard.
- installation of a film pool is simple, quick, low cost, possible on its own, if there is a desire and a special tool for soldering and gluing joints.
- a film pool can be built in place of an existing, old or cracked, and therefore lost its pool, i.e., a film pool is the best option for repairing an existing pool.
- the film used in the installation of such a pool does not fade in the sun for about 8-10 years, is resistant to temperature extremes, flexible and durable, which is why it is not susceptible to cracking with possible soil movements, and if accidentally ruptured, it is easily and quickly repaired (sealed), it also provides anti-slip effect (protecting us from possible falls and injuries).
- the finish layer of the film pool is also waterproofing, i.e., again, we save both our money and the installation time of such a pool.
It seems that such a pool simply does not have disadvantages, but, unfortunately, this is not so:
- the film pool cannot be installed in swampy areas or in areas with high groundwater table, as good waterproofing will play a bad service for such a pool: the pool will begin to lose shape.
- film fables are bad enough and difficult to clean because the film is scratched, discolored under the influence of too concentrated chemicals and cleaning agents for the pool, becoming less attractive and not so bright and clean. That is why it is better to arrange film fables away from trees, so that the water does not become clogged with leaves, or under a roof, canopy.

Now let’s take a closer look at the phased installation of the film pool:
- We select a place in the summer cottage where you plan to build a film pool: the area should be open, free from trees and shrubs, fairly flat, the size of the area should exceed the size of the future pool by 2-2.5 m.
- We make the markup, immediately determine the size and shape of the future pool: and they can be absolutely any.
- We dig a ditch: here and there will be a bowl for the pool. The calculation of the basin is as follows: the pit is deeper than the future basin, at least 0.5 m and wider and longer by about the same. We choose the depth ourselves, remembering, however, that it is optimal to make a small pool with a difference in depth from 1 m to 1.6 m. In such a pool it will be comfortable for both children and adults, regardless of whether they can swim or not.
- Having decided on the size of the bowl, it is worth consulting with experts about what, what capacity equipment you need to buy and install for your particular film pool. Plan the locations for the installation and installation of these communications for the pool.
- For a film pool, a concrete bowl is optimal (pouring a pool bowl using a pre-installed formwork) or a concrete bottom with brick (or foam blocks) walls, subsequently, plastered with cement-sand mortar. A bowl of concrete pool is durable, smooth enough to become a full-fledged frame for the future film pool.
- After the final drying and the readiness of the bowl for the pool, you need to apply a film coating for the pool. Here everything is almost the same as when sewing and cutting: cut, hold, grab, glue.
Like, for example, these walls.
And after that. We join all the seams, with an overlap, for greater tightness, as here
But in the end, the entire installation process looks something like this
