Cable heating systems, like any others, have their advantages and disadvantages. Light weight, more heat transfer options make it possible to use them for various purposes:

In this case, one inextricable conductor is formed, the cable has a continuous sheath, there are no couplings, which guarantees complete moisture impermeability and provides increased product service lines.
Roof heating cable
Many owners of cottages and summer cottages are familiar with such an unpleasant moment as icing of the roof, gutters and icicles hanging from above, which strive to fall on your head. In this case, as a result of freezing, the roof elements and the drainage system are also damaged, their deformation occurs, which subsequently can lead to leaks on the roof or in the drainage.
The roof heating system is designed for the timely removal of melt water from the roof surface to the drainage system. With manual removal of snow from the roof surface, there is a high probability of damage to the roof material, which will lead to significant costs during the repair, at the same time, it is unsafe to carry out such work.

Cable heating of a water supply system
In the cold season, all engineering systems experience increased loads both in apartments and in private households. Shallow depth of communications can lead to their freezing and failure. To prevent such situations, cable heating is used, for which a special electric cable is used.
Such a system is very easy to install. For a heating device for water pipes, it is necessary to take the cable along the entire length of the pipe, it must be attached to the pipe with electrical tape, adhesive tape, or a special aluminum tape and strengthen with self-tightening clamps. On the one hand, the cable is connected to the mains, on the other hand, it is closed with a special end coupling. Thermal sensors are mounted along the pipe. They are connected to a thermostat, which will subsequently monitor the operation of the entire system. The temperature controller will turn on the heating cable when the pipe temperature drops below a predetermined level and turn off the system when the desired temperature is reached.
Using a pipe heating system allows to reduce the depth of laying routes, avoids the appearance of condensation on the pipes, which leads to an increase in the service life of the system as a whole.
Cable heating of the greenhouse
It is not often possible to meet a gardener who has not installed a greenhouse in his garden. Everyone is trying to make the most of every piece of land. To increase the efficiency of such a structure as a greenhouse and increase the operating line, its heating is needed. There are a lot of heating systems, but basically, they all warm the air in the greenhouse, and the soil remains cold. To achieve an effective result and good soil warming in the spring, you can use cable heating of the greenhouse.
During the installation of heating, you will need to remove the upper fertile soil layer. Tamp the soil. In the resulting pit, install hydro and thermal insulation. As thermal insulation, you should choose materials that conduct water poorly. A layer of sand 10-15 cm thick is poured on top of the insulation, sand must be tamped. Then lay the electric heating cable. The cable is laid with a snake, the distance between the turns is 150 mm. Then the cable is covered with sand, the sand needs to be compacted again. In order to avoid damage to the cable by garden tools, during the operation of the greenhouse, a protective mesh is laid on the surface of the sand. From above, everything is covered with a layer of fertile soil, the height of the layer should be from 35 cm.
When installing the heating system of the greenhouse, it should be remembered that it is impossible to dry the soil and plant roots. Temperature control is handled by an automation system with a temperature controller. The optimum soil temperature is considered to be a temperature of 20-25C. When choosing a cable, remember that the maximum power per 1m2 should be about 80-100W / m2, or 20Vi / mp. With proper installation and operation, overheating of the root system is excluded.
