How to properly prepare a frame pool for wintering, useful tips
Is the swimming season over? Weather less often pleases us with warm and sunny days, and the night temperature more and more often reaches minus indicators? So, it's time to start preparing for the winter, and an artificial pond in this case is no exception. The owners of open-air frame pools are the first on this list, since they must have time to carry out all the preparatory activities before the first frost begins, otherwise their frame miracle will turn into a moody device that can significantly suffer in the process of alternating frosts and thaws.

How to store the frame pool in the winter? Types of frame pools
How to store the frame pool in the winter? The answer to this question will vary depending on the type of your pool. Developing innovative technologies allow us to distinguish two variant varieties of frame pools: seasonal and frost-resistant, the production technology of which allows you to store them in assembled condition at low temperatures. Quite different is the case with seasonal varieties, which at the end of the warm season need to be disassembled.
Seasonal frame pools. Proper storage
The dismantling of the seasonal frame pool structure must begin with a water drain, which can be combined with mechanical cleaning of the walls, which is a necessary nuance of dismantling, since the frame pool should be stored clean in winter. Another point is the cleaning of the pool walls from limescale with a non-metallic brush, however, this event can be carried out next season before the next pool installation.
Dismantling the pool frame is also not particularly difficult, however, in order to avoid the loss of small parts, it is recommended to pack all its parts in separate bags with zippers. After thorough drying, the pool itself is recommended to be carefully folded. The frame pool for the winter, if you plan to store it in an unheated room, you need to fold it very tightly to avoid damage to its components, as severe frosts are a significant threat to fragile plastic. The pump and hoses, after being thoroughly flushed, also fold near the base of the pool.
Frost-resistant frame pools. Key aspects of storage
However, if you are a happy owner of a frost-resistant frame pool - the instructions that accompany it will tell you that the storage of this structure can be carried out in assembled form. But this does not mean that this type of frame pools should remain unattended in the cold season. Moreover, the owners of frost-resistant water sources should be most careful in observing frame pool care measures.
Preservation is a necessary event. Aspects of Proper Conservation
The preservation of the pool, which is characterized by a number of significant nuances, the non-observance of which may cause equipment damage, leads the list of these measures. So, we suggest you familiarize yourself with them:
1.Conservation of the frame pool should be made in advance, long before the first frost;
2. It is forbidden to leave the frame pool for the winter in an empty state;
3. The repeated gulf of water provided for by the optimal conservation technique must be done after thorough cleaning of the walls and equipment;
4. Cleaning agents used to disinfect the walls and bottom of the pool are often aggressive agents for the human body, as a result of which it is necessary to adhere to safety regulations, namely, use gloves and rubber boots, avoiding uncontrolled leakage of reagents outside the frame tank;
5.Remind about objects that compensate for the volumetric expansion of the pool, the so-called compensators for volumetric expansion, the role of which will be handled by any objects that are prone to compression under the influence of low temperatures. They will take the burden of expanding ice in the pool on themselves, thereby preventing pool damage.
Experts categorically forbid to leave frame pools empty, as freezing water in the frame pool protects the lining of the bowl from various kinds of damage, and also prevents breakage of the bowl due to volumetric vibrations of the soil surrounding the pool. Soil alternately freezing and thawing significantly increases the loads acting on the pool, thereby leading to premature damage to metal and concrete body elements.
However, this does not mean that the water remaining in the pool at the end of the swimming season is suitable for winter conservation of the water source. This water should be subject to final drainage, followed by cleaning the walls and bottom of the pool with cleaning agents, which are suitable for Bayrol products. After such a general cleaning of the pool, its walls are thoroughly rinsed, and the water remaining after treatment is drained.
At this time, it is necessary to dismantle all the constituent lighting elements, after which water is poured to the previous level, which will be subject to conservation. The preservation of the filtering system begins by turning on the filter in the backwash mode, after which it is necessary to set the sealing mode and only then filtering. At this stage, an agent is added to the preservation water that prevents the growth and reproduction of algae (Puripul from Bayrol is perfect). After that, the water into which the algaecide is added is filtered for three hours, and only after that the conservation water is drained until it reaches a mark that is 10 cm below the side nozzles.
Volumetric expansion joints. The final stages of conservation
After all these activities have been completed, it’s time to install the volume expansion compensators mentioned above. For these purposes, any objects that can shrink when increasing the external barometric mode are suitable. Car tires, plastic canisters containing air, pieces of polystyrene are perfect. They are slightly immersed in water with the help of cargoes, in the role of which bags filled with sand can act.
After the objects that compensate for the volume expansion are installed, all parts of the hydraulic system are dismantled, and those whose design does not involve dismantling are freed from water and insulated with plugs. The filter must also be disconnected from the hydraulic system and freed from water, and only after that it is removed for wintering.
Next, an awning for a frame pool will come to the rescue, the installation of which will summarize the results of winter conservation. In the summer, it is necessary to protect the water in the pool from pollution, and in winter it becomes the final stage of conservation.
The use of an awning and any materials made of tarpaulin is practiced for the reason that they can not only protect the water mirror from pollution and other environmental factors, but also protect it from the increasing severity of snow drifts. Moreover, light tarpaulin does not create additional loads on the ice surface, thereby protecting the frame pool from additional damage, which can not be said about metal and wooden shields.
