Log comfort
Self-construction of a house is not an easy and responsible task. The realization of a dream in the first place requires considerable expenses and knowledge.
For several decades in North America and Europe, often the first floor is made of stone, and the second (sometimes third) - log. And this is no coincidence: houses made of natural wood have not only an aesthetic appearance - the powerful, natural structure of pine harmoniously fits into the surrounding space and blends perfectly with the modern range of coatings. In addition, log homes have many other advantages: walls made of solid, fragrant pine create a soft and warm microclimate, resins and phytoncides remain in them, which have a beneficial effect on residents. In wooden houses there is always optimal humidity and clean air, regardless of external conditions. In addition to being easy to breathe in a log house, a tree has excellent construction and technical characteristics and does not pollute the environment. Such houses are superior in strength and quality factor to bar, panel and frame, while the most important - the outer layer is well preserved. Chopped houses are very stable, and fire safety is provided by harmless fire-retardant impregnations. Its use depends on the type of wood. Soft hardwood includes alder. It is very water resistant and is used to make piles and well log cabins. Linden - soft, light, slightly susceptible to cracking, warping, does not dry out, is clean and uniform. It is indispensable in the manufacture of carved decor. Hardwood of medium hardness includes birch, which can be easily processed, is widely used in construction, carpentry and furniture production, and peeled veneers are made from it. Of the hardwoods, oak and beech are the most widely used. Oak is used for carving in interior design, carpentry, furniture and plywood industries. The beech is not inferior in strength and hardness to oak; bent furniture, planed veneer are made from it, but it is exposed to moisture, so experts consider it a capricious breed. Security measures The fight against possible rotting (and it is more dangerous than insects) is best started at the stage of production and storage of lumber. Freshly chopped wood must be dried, for example, natural, consisting in no less than an annual aging. Do not forget about drainage and the blind area. Plus good ventilation. It is advisable that the house is not obscured by large trees, and to prevent putrefactive damage to the walls, you can sheathe them with boards. The best time for annual inspections of wooden structures is spring. Signs of the beginning of the destructive activity of mushrooms are a change in appearance, deformation of the structure and smell. Depending on the degree of damage, either a complete replacement of damaged structures or the localization of damaged places is carried out.
