Profiled sheet - what is made of, what is it
Before you begin to thoroughly analyze the question of how to construct a fence from a profiled sheet without the help of specialists, you need to understand what a profiled sheet is, what it is made of and what it is, what are the reasons for its enormous popularity today, terms of operation, positive properties .
A profiled sheet, it is also a corrugated board, is usually made of steel, has a zigzag or wavy regular shape, in other words we can say that it is profiled. Due to this specific shape, it has an additional strength and is not deformed by strong wind gusts.
The steel sheet, which is the workpiece, undergoes zinc treatment before the profiling process. As a result of such processing, its service life is increased to 50 years. This is one of the main parameters of the popularity of the construction of a fence from a profiled sheet with your own hands. Zinc-treated steel sheet can be easily painted in various colors. Therefore, when implementing the idea to build a fence from a professional sheet, you select the necessary flowers yourself.
Profiled sheet fence and its advantages
- Quite a long service life. The only condition for fulfilling this paragraph is that the posts and crossbars must be made of steel, and not of wooden materials.
- Huge selection of colors for coloring. Everyone will be able to satisfy their wishes regarding colors.
- Design variety of the profile (waves of various shapes), which gives additional opportunities in finding the solutions that suit you.
- If there are certain installation tools and desires, the installation of the fence from the profiled sheet is performed independently.
- The cost of a fence from a profiled sheet is in the middle price category - a brick fence will cost more, a wooden fence - cheaper. But when choosing, the reliability of the structure and the terms of its operation should be taken into account.
Calculation and purchase of building materials
Before you start the construction, manufacture or construction of something, first prepare and calculate the estimate, then select and purchase all the necessary materials.
When buying profiled sheets for a fence, always remember that when it is installed, fixing occurs with an overlap of one wave, therefore the material consumption will be more. Therefore, it makes sense to take time and correctly calculate the number of sheets needed.
When erecting a fence from corrugated board, use metal pipes with a diameter of 50 to 60 mm for the main posts. The number and length of pipes is calculated based on the total distance at which the fence must be built. Support pipes are recommended to be located at a distance of no more than 2.5 m.
Naturally, when erecting a fence, there is a need to make a gate. To do this, you need to purchase a special profile of steel, most often they use a square or rectangular cut. The required amount of profile is calculated taking into account the need to use it in the manufacture of gates, gates and crossbars.
You will also need screws for fastening metal. On sale, they come with hats of different colors, are sold in specialized construction stores.
After completing the purchase of all the necessary materials, start preparing the necessary tools.
Tools required for the construction of the fence
To perform such a job, at hand should be:
- roulette, level, rope
- shovel
- grinder, welding machine, metal scissors
- a drill with a drill, a screwdriver with a nozzle that screws self-tapping screws.
The technology of building a fence from corrugated board
First of all, to carry out accurate actions without errors, consider the photo of the fences from the corrugated board, draw your version of the fence, which you want to see in the final, in the form of a diagram. This action will be a good help when calculating the right amount of material. Using this figure, it will also be convenient to calculate the dimensions of the fence elements.
After completing the scheme, proceed with the following steps. Mark up the pillars at the place where you plan to build the fence. It will be more practical to start marking up the location of the future gate. The dimensions of the transverse profile and the distance between them described above should be taken into account. Having left the necessary space for the gate, mark two places under the support posts (there will be a gate between them). Then hammer in the wedges. The following actions will be of the same type - make further markings for the posts on both sides of the gate. After completing these steps, grab the rope and pull it from the first to the last wedge.
When you look at the taut rope from your side, you can easily determine firsthand all the errors. Next, you will need to make an error correction, observing the previous distance indicated by the markings.
The next stage is earthworks. It is necessary to dig holes for each previously planned column, a depth of half a meter, a width of 20-25 cm. Prepare fragments of medium-sized bricks (a cement mortar should flow between them). Take a pillar, lower it into the hole exactly in the middle, fill it with pieces of brick, check the level and fix. These steps must be repeated with each column.
Remember, for a longer service life of the pillars before installation, they need to be primed and painted. This will protect them from corrosion for as long as possible.
When all the poles are installed, a newly stretched rope will help determine deviations from the norm. Naturally, we correct all deviations.
Then we mix the cement mortar and pour it under each pillar. After this, the columns must be left immovable for 5-6 days - this time is just enough for the solution to completely dry and solidify.
After five days of construction work can continue. The next step will be the fastening to the posts of the crossbars using a welding machine. They are fixed at a height of 30 cm from the ground and 30 cm lower from the upper edge of the pipe. We perform welding operations in relation to all pipes. Then we primer and paint the entire resulting structure. We are waiting for the paint to dry completely.
At this stage, the final form of the fence will be formed. Now you need to fasten the profiled sheets to the crossbars. It is not at all difficult and exciting. This should be done in advance with self-tapping screws, after 20-25 cm. Basically, they begin to fasten from the place where the gate is planned and continue in one of the selected directions, then in the other.
These are the main stages of the construction of the fence from the profiled sheet. The process is basically simple, although it requires some simple skills. But at the end of the work, you will have an excellent fence that will last a long time. If you wish, you can update it and repaint.
