Modular stairs where such stairs are used - a brief overview of the characteristics, assembly tips at home
If you need a staircase that is light, durable, not cluttering up a space that gathers in a few hours and fits perfectly into the interior of your house or apartment, then the only right option for you would be a modular staircase. And about what modular stairs are, what types they are and how to choose and mount them correctly at home, read in our article.

Modular stairs: what is it
We are all familiar with such an interesting and entertaining toy as the Lego constructor: whose universal parts-modules are suitable for creating any model conceived. So this very principle of the universality of modules is implemented in such a completely non-childish thing as a modular staircase.
Modular stairsthis is a fairly new and simple option for creating a durable, beautiful, modern, high-tech style, or, conversely, brutal and classic wooden staircase at home, almost independently, without preliminary complicated engineering calculations, using a set of tools available to everyone . And all because modular staircase is a system consisting of independent parts, i.e., modules(including both the mount itself and the step). At the same time, the initial and final modules are stages, but intermediate degrees, with the possibility of adjusting the height, can be as much as the height of your ceilings or your personal design idea will require. But, when choosing any option and type of modular staircase you need, the main thing to consider is:
Modular stairs: application and types
Why use modular stairs?
All for the same purpose, for which we would use the usual staircase: for connecting, with the goal, unhindered, convenient and quick movement, the floors of a house or several levels of a multi-level apartment
or purely for decorative purposes, if required by the design idea (as original shelves, stands for flowers and books and additional seats).
Naturally, taking into account the fact that the price of modular staircases ranges from several hundred to quite impressive thousands of dollars per linear meter, the question may arise: what else is so remarkable, besides simplicity of assembly, strength and lightness, are there in the modular staircase?
But there is! Modular stairs, the most famous of which is the graz modular staircase, made in Denmark, are very compact.
All thanks to their modularity and the ability of modules to rotate around its axis. And that is why, modular stairs to the second floor can be of several types:
- direct (with one span) modular staircase: the most simple, economical, in terms of financial costs, but not always comfortable (the staircase can be very steep) for everyone.
- modular staircase with a turn: the angle of rotation can be any, but the turn itself is provided by a flat platform. This version of the modular staircase is most often found in both houses and apartments. It is quite compact and fits any stylistic design of the room. Plus, this is a fairly comfortable option for people aged and children.
- a round modular staircase is very similar in organization to a modular staircase with a turn, but the turn is carried out not only at the expense of the site, but also with several steps. Due to this, it is advisable to use such a staircase with ceiling heights above average, and its compactness is much lower.
- three-flight modular staircase: an option, rather, for a multi-story building, cafe, hotel, restaurant, rather than a standard private house or two-level apartment.
- modular spiral staircase: the most original and compact version of a modular staircase between floors.
Exterior design: the material of the steps, the railing, their shape and color, the color of the module-mounts themselves for a modular staircase of any kind, you can choose for your interior and to your taste.
Modular staircase assembly
Earlier, we already stipulated the fact that a modular ladder can be assembled using a generally available basic set of tools: ruler, pencil, level, drill and hacksaw.
But it’s always better to see once than hear a hundred times, especially when it’s manufacturer’s recommendations
or, in case there may be several assembly options, depending on the type of modular staircase
And, taking into account all the nuances, to have a desire and golden hands, the modular staircase with your own hands is not such an unattainable goal.
Indeed, such elements of a modular staircase as steps and railings can be made independently, from wood or other material suitable for strength and weight, significantly saving money. But, on the mounts-modules, perhaps, it’s still not worth saving.
Modular stairs in the interior
The modular staircase is not only a comfortable transition from floor to floor, but also a real art object in your home.
