Drilling an artesian well in the area
If your country house is not connected to the central water supply or your need for water does not match the amount of water in the water supply line - think about arranging an artesian well in your area.

What is an artesian well?
Modern landscaped country houses are equipped with pools, fountains, lawns, greenhouses.
All this magnificence requires a huge amount of water daily.
Very often, a house that is connected to a central water supply is not able to get the right amount of water.
Moreover, not one well, as well as a sand well, are not able to provide the right amount of water.
The conclusion follows from here - to reach the artesian horizons of the water.
Artesian or limestone aquifers are located at a depth of 40 to 200 meters or more.
The bowels of the central region of Russia have been studied in sufficient detail; there are hydrogeological maps and cadastres.
Therefore, drilling companies using these maps can determine the depth of water in your area with an accuracy of plus or minus 10-20 meters.
If you set out to build an artesian well in your area, visit the company of drillers, tell the location of the proposed well and the company will tell you the approximate depth of the well.
However, you can also obtain this data by calling the company or on the website.
Advantages of our own artesian well
The advantages of its own artesian well include year-round, uninterrupted water supply of a country house.
If there is a large subsidiary farm, it also requires a large amount of water all year round, and even if the house is located in a rural settlement where there is central water supply, in winter the central water conduit often freezes in rural areas.
Therefore, in order not to leave the farm without water, it is necessary to have an artesian well.
If the aquifer is at a depth of 60 meters, the cost of installing a well will not be prohibitive.
Sometimes neighbors, if they are friendly with each other, can unite and dig a common artesian well.
Sometimes, poor environmental conditions are a source of poor-quality water and digging one’s own well can solve this problem.
It must be understood that an artesian well is a durable and reliable source of water.
Choosing a place for drilling an artesian well
From Soviet films, we remember the heroes who walk with the vine around the site and look for the aquifer, now you do not need to walk with such a vine around the site.
Almost everywhere artesian water is under our feet and the choice of a place for digging a well depends directly on the desire of the customer.
An ideal place is the arrangement of wells near the house.
If a well is planned initially at the stage of building a house, then this issue is resolved very easily.
A team of professionals arrives with a drilling machine, pipes are imported, and digging a well begins.
If the house and outbuildings are erected, when the well is installed, it is necessary to select a site measuring at least 3x6 meters.
It is necessary to take into account the free run of the overall equipment, to have a place for building up the drilling tool, in both cases no electrical wires should hang over the construction site.
It is necessary to equip a place for a sump with dimensions of 1x1.5 meters, the water used for drilling will merge into the sump.
You need a place to store equipment, a place for a barrel of water, a place for a trailer-house in which workers will live.
Necessarily the site must be electrified.
There should be a free access road to the work site, at least 3 meters wide.
After equipping the artesian well, it is necessary to maintain free access roads, since in case of well repair, the same drilling machine will carry out the repair itself.
Well device
There are a variety of drilling methods, specialists choose the drilling method, not the customer.
But it will not hurt the customer to take an interest in the company that will drill your well, since the life of the well depends on the quality of even pipe welding.
If the welder is of low qualification, then when signing a contract for the performance of work, include a clause on the connection of pipes using threads - this connection is more reliable.
The classic design of the well consists of the wellbore itself, the walls of which are strengthened by the casing, of ferrous or galvanized metal.
Gradually, as the well deepens, the casing is expanded by welding or by a threaded joint.
An insert made of metal or plastic is lowered inside the casing. Then lower the pump with the outlet hose.
The insert is buried below the casing, as it is needed for isolation from contact with artesian water.
To protect against surface water, the gap between the pipes is sealed with a special compact clay, the entire external space behind the casing is cemented.
It is this technology that allows the well to work for more than 50 years, while the water does not have a metallic taste and various impurities do not enter the water.
Why should plastic pipes be preferred?
When arranging artesian wells, plastic pipes are very often used, since these pipes are durable and environmentally friendly.
When arranging wells, low-pressure polyethylene pipes and PVC pipes are used.
These modern materials do not have corrosion, as they are not able to oxidize and, accordingly, do not decompose.
The weight of plastic pipes is much less, and the price is much cheaper than stainless steel.
Due to the light weight of the structure, there is no risk of pipe breakage under its own weight; such a design does not break the tight threaded connections.
Even if during operation, the metal casing is perforated, the plastic pipe will withstand the aggressive effects of the environment.
And one more nuance, during well repair, a plastic pipe is easier to change than a metal one.
Important! Do not use a plastic pipe without an outer metal.
What is included in the cost of arranging a well?
The cost of work includes:
- earthworks for drilling;
- well equipment with casing pipes;
- the withdrawal of the barrel one meter above ground level;
- the cost of the casing pipes themselves;
- the cost of internal pipes;
- trial pumping to clear water;
- measuring the level and flow rate of water;
- fare.
We determine the quality of water
To determine the quality of water, a complete water analysis is done.
The cost of the analysis reaches 5000 rubles, but it must be done otherwise the increased content of iron, fluorine and hardness salts can harm your health.
Drillers are not responsible for the quality of your water.
But if the quality does not match, you have to fork out for a water treatment system.
Cost-saving tips for well installation
To reduce the cost of well arrangement, and basically drill wells to a depth of 60 to 120 meters, it is necessary:
- carry out drilling work in the winter (the price is reduced by 10-15%);
- excavation work on the arrangement of the well can be carried out on their own or to hire migrant workers;
- to find partners among neighbors who want to have their own well, since when drilling two or more wells a good discount is given.
