What determines the choice?
The fence on a summer cottage ideally hides all possession. But there are exceptions, for example, the use of a mesh netting, on the contrary, reveals a garden for admiring strangers. Mesh netting, a fence made of concrete and other types can represent both protection and decoration with the help of plants - vines or a pattern embossed on the surface of concrete.
The height of the fence in the suburban area and its width are determined as an important point. The recommended height of the fence from the side of the road is 1.6 m, the fence between summer cottages cannot exceed 1.5 m and more, it should only be transparent. An important factor and price, which of course depends on the material of the fence and its quality. Wooden and brick fences are almost identical in cost, but there are still differences in the advantages and disadvantages. For this reason, let's look at all types of fence in more detail.
Wooden fence
Wooden fences are the power of tradition and natural beauty. Various types of wooden fences are currently offered. You can determine the type of wood (spruce, pine, oak, acacia), the size of individual components or entire panels, choose the shade of the tree and the installation method.
The tree provides almost unlimited possibilities in the design of fences. Wood fence boards can be combined in various ways - horizontally, vertically or diagonally, differ in openwork patterns. The wooden fence is fixed on stone, concrete or brick ledges and poles depending on your desire.
You should know that a wooden fence needs to be protected from the effects of weather, mold and pests. The fence should be regularly painted or soaked with effective drugs.
Concrete fence
Modern technologies allow the production of truly attractive concrete fencing. This is not the same as before the types of concrete fences - gray and monotonous. Now we meet a wide selection of fences with drawings, arches, tiles. Bulk concrete is just faced with tiles, and the smooth surface of the fence is plastered, decorated with interesting concrete columns.
Precast concrete fence is undoubtedly more attractive and easier to install. Its ready-made modules are made in both openwork and solid execution. Concrete panels are painted in any color, include elements of metal, brick. The fence pattern imitates natural stone, brick or rocky surface.
Such a fence does not require tedious masonry or processing, it is a very convenient and practical solution. The main drawback here is the possible low quality of the material, it is very difficult to predict what will happen to the concrete fence in 5-10 years. The correct installation of fences in the summer cottage also affects the service time, this also applies to concrete fences, but, as a rule, the entire installation process is difficult to trace.
Brick fence
Brick fences have been known for over 100 years. High and massive walls are made of bricks, fences made of other materials are decorated with bricks. Types of brick fences differ in type of brick: clinker brick, non-fired and ceramic.
Most often, clinker brick is used for the construction of fences, it has the greatest strength and frost resistance. The brick is laid on a cement or cement-lime mortar, the masonry itself is performed in a variety of options due to different shades of material.
When combining colors when creating a fence, remember that the design must match the style of your home and the environment. The brick does not fade in the sun, the material is fireproof, does not require frequent cleaning and maintenance. There is only one minus of a brick fence - the acquisition price and the cost / time for a quality installation.
Metal fence
Types of metal fences differ in cost and quality of the material. Each of these types creates unlimited opportunities for organizing interesting projects .. Among the most important advantages of a wrought iron fence, it is worth noting the high technical strength, resistance to adverse weather conditions.
The fence does not require special care, it is offered with various forged elements, and is perfect for fencing any area with a private house, public institution or park. The fence is combined with materials such as brick, concrete or stone, which further emphasizes its artistic superiority.
The metal mesh guard is universal. The modular fencing made of welded wire mesh consists of separate panels; the wire mesh differs in size, shape and color.
Fence netting netting is the easiest option. It has medium protective properties, ease and flexibility of installation. Suitable for fencing private property, sports fields. Unlike other metal fences, the mesh requires regular polymer treatment to protect against corrosion.
Note some of the shortcomings of metal fences. Forged fences are quite high in price when compared with other options. The netting net looks very simple and is the cheapest and unattractive fence. Without proper maintenance, the mesh netting loses its resistance to environmental influences.
Stone fence
Stone fences were known in antiquity, today this type of fence is becoming fashionable. This is due to the unusual material, even with damage, it looks interesting. Exceptional durability and strength, a connection with natural origin are the most attractive aspects of a stone fence. But keep in mind, such a fence is not suitable for every type of building, a residential building should be stylized as a historic or classic building.
For the construction of a stone fence, stones of different breeds are used - granite, basalt, syenite, quartzite, sandstone and limestone. As for sandstone and limestone, in spite of their beauty, it is recommended to limit these rocks in creating fencing, this material is quickly destroyed under the influence of weather conditions, in extreme cases, try to cover your fence with a decorative sloping roof.
Gabion fence
Gabion fences are a double galvanized grid in the form of a box filled with white pebbles, balsamic stones or wood. Gabions are often used as retaining walls to strengthen coasts and slopes. In landscape design, they learned to make garden furniture from gabions - tables and chairs, and gabions also serve as pillars among the spans of fences.
The gabion fence requires some knowledge when choosing - a mesh made of strong metal with double torsion otherwise, the whole structure under the weight of the stones simply deforms and then completely disintegrates. If the mesh is not well protected against corrosion, you will soon have to either repair or change the fence. Depending on the quality of the filler, gabions are periodically filled with new stones (soft rocks of stones break up over time).
