We choose materials for finishing the bath
The choice of finishing materials is an extremely serious matter, because in addition to decorative functions, it serves as an insulating and waterproofing material, and helps to extend the life of the structure. Properly selected material will not cause burns if you accidentally touch it. Under the influence of high temperature, it should exude substances useful to people. It is necessary to pay attention to the decorative qualities of the material from which the interior decoration of the brick bath is made.
Based on the foregoing, finishing materials should:
- have resistance to hot humid air,
- be hygienic
- do not be afraid of getting water on them,
- must not contain toxic substances, including those that are released at high temperatures,
- to be strong and durable
- do not cause an allergic reaction in people
- have eye-friendly shades.
The material that meets all these requirements is wood, the interior decoration of the bath with clapboard is one of the most common methods for decorating a bath house. The wood-lined walls exude a life-giving aroma, creating a special atmosphere favorable for humans in the room. But to obtain a result that pleases the soul and the eye, you should choose a quality material with an optimal degree of shrinkage: too dry a board, installed without preliminary preparation, starts to swell under the influence of saturated moisture, and excessively wet - to form cracks as a result of shrinkage.
Materials for interior decoration of the bath - how to finish the walls in the steam room
Given the special temperature and humidity indicators that the air in the steam room has, a board made of hardwood is traditionally used for its decoration:
- limes
- larch trees
- poplar
- birch trees
- aspens.
The listed types of wood do not emit tar under the influence of high temperature, do not heat up from the heat, quickly dry out when airing, which prevents the development of fungi and microorganisms and can very well be used to decorate a steam bath.
As a facing material, ash wood is sometimes used, strong, durable, not prone to decay. In addition, the core of the ash looks very decorative and arouses keen interest among craftsmen.
Walls constructed of brick or foam concrete block are often lined with alder lining, which is distinguished by its strength, perfect evenness of structure and odorless. The advantages of alder wood include its attractive light brown, with a pinkish tint, a shade, not a tendency to absorb odors. Foreign masters in the manufacture of saunas very often turn to this material.
The best finish for washing
For washing, you can use different materials, including those that are not recommended for use in the steam room. Pine lining, for example, under the influence of moderate temperatures will not emit tar, but it will exude a healing aroma for humans, enrich the air with volatile products. Experts also advise using a lining made of spruce wood - it has a beautiful orangeish tint, pleasant aroma, and is resistant to high humidity.
In addition to wood, the interior design of the bath can be created using
- gypsum fiber materials
- PVC
- tile
- panels of moisture resistant fiberboard.
Choosing the right option depends on the taste of the owners of the bath house and their financial capabilities.
Interior decoration of the relaxation room
The washing lining and the steam room are selected in accordance with the requirements of practicality, while for the rest room more attractive aspects are attractive design and economy. The cheapest, but at the same time attractive material is pine. It can have different shades: from bright reddish-orange to pale sand. At moderate temperatures, pine does not emit tar, its wood is processed without much effort, it is painted, polished and varnished.
In modern bath construction, a Scandinavian pine is often used, which has a beautiful pink tint. She practically has no knots, and the pattern of her annual rings looks very picturesque, over time a noble patina coating appears on such material.
No less attractive is the spruce. Of its shortcomings, a large number of knots can be noted. However, the lining made by Swedish and Finnish manufacturers using special technology using burning air turned this flaw into a beautiful decorative element. Although spruce wood contains fewer resins than pine, its processing is more complex.
For those who want to build a particularly strong and durable finish, an oak lining is suitable. Exposure to hot steam makes oak wood ductile to such an extent that the most diverse bent decor elements are not made from, differing in their strength and resistance to putrefactive processes.
The procedure for finishing work
First of all, finishing material should be brought into the bathhouse and left for 1-2 days for acclimatization. On the walls a crate of bars of 50x50 mm is mounted, a step of 500 mm. Steam and heat insulation are attached to the crate. On top of them, hardwood panels are installed.
If desired, their installation can be performed vertically, horizontally, diagonally. As fixing material, special nails made of copper or bronze are used. Panels are inserted into the slots of already installed panels.
The best option for finishing the floor for the bath will be concrete, wood or ceramic tile. It is not recommended to use synthetic materials - heating them to high temperatures leads to the release of toxic substances. Using an oak board for flooring equipment will create a durable and durable coating, but at the same time it will have a low heat capacity, and in high humidity conditions it will also be traumatic, slippery.
Recently, in bath houses, they often resort to arranging a warm floor - a system with a heating electric cable is mounted under a concrete screed. But such floors can only be built in the dressing room or lounge, but in no case in the steam room or washing.
