A pneumatic elevator operates literally in a vacuum and is therefore sometimes called an airlift.

After a vacuum is created above the cabin, a higher air pressure under the cabin pushes it up.

In order for the cabin to go down, the pressure from above and below is equalized and the elevator gradually lowers.

Which elevator to choose?

The hydraulic elevator, due to the technical and design features of the hydraulic drive, can overcome the height of no more than 22 meters, its speed is also low: from 0.15 to 0.6 meters per second.

The performance of the pneumatic elevator is even lower: the height is not higher than 11 meters; speed - 0.2 m / s.

The electric elevator is a record holder: it can lift to a height of 60 meters, while it can reach speeds of up to 15 m / s.

Of course, in cottage elevators, speed is limited to no more than 1 m / s.

• Based on the above, we conclude:

• for a house up to 3 floors high, a pneumatic lift is suitable;

• for buildings up to 5 floors - hydraulic lift;

• for skyscrapers above 5 floors, an electric elevator is required.

If you plan to constantly move up and down heavy loads: the hydraulic elevator in terms of power and carrying capacity is significantly superior to rivals.

Elevator Installation Methods

When installing a hydraulic elevator, just one load-bearing wall and a special technical room are enough.

There are hydraulic models that are installed without a pit, supplied in a self-supporting shaft.

Such an elevator takes up little space, all control units and a container with oil, as well as a pump and a regulator are located in a small cabinet, it can be installed at any intermediate level in the direction of the elevator.

Installation of a pneumatic elevator is also not particularly difficult, the equipment does not require a special room.

Such aerial lifts can be installed even in small houses, it is a self-supporting structure, the floors in the room support it.

Electric lift installation

Installing an electric lift is a serious task.

During installation, a machine room above the elevator shaft is necessary, external control systems and a power lifting mechanism will be placed in it, the walls of the shaft must necessarily be load-bearing.

There are models of electric cottage elevators that do not require a technical room.

The necessary devices, such models, are located within the walls of the mine.

In this case, there is a big minus: difficult access to the lifting winch for repair and other works.

What does the elevator cost consist of?

The cost of the elevator consists of the following costs: assembly and installation of the mine with stopping areas.

The cost depends on the total height of the building and the number of stops; installation of lifting equipment; cab price (depends on size and finish).

The principle of the elevator

All elevators, regardless of design features, are arranged according to one principle:

the elevator car is fixed on steel cables;

the cables are mounted on a pulley-wheel;

the pulley is driven by a drive mechanism, which is located in the upper part of the elevator;

signals to the drive mechanism are supplied from the keypad via an electric cable stretched inside the shaft;

weights at the ends of steel cables balance the cab or platform.
